The Knightsville General Store is not just the place to get a great meal or cup of coffee. Now they offer several different events throughout the year. One of their most popular events is what they call the Knightsville Porch Jam!
Harkening back to a time when it was commonplace for people to gather together in the evening on porches. At the Knightsville Porch Jam, musicians play while families enjoy just spending time together playing games and leaving all the craziness of their busy lives behind them. It is a reminder of simpler times when conversations were only face to face and not phone to phone. It’s a time for people to get to know one another while enjoying great food and fun games. It’s something that I think many of us need in our often hectic lives.
Every Thursday Night is GAME NIGHT at the Knightsville General Store!
Join in for a game or two and a chance to win a $20 gift certificate! Beginning August 23, the hours for Game Night will be 6pm to 8pm. You don’t want to miss out on the fun!
Now that school is going to be back in session, the Knightsville General Store will have new hours. Beginning August 21, 2018, they will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.
If you have never been, please pay them a visit and let them know you heard about their store on Life in Summerville! To check out more information and their menu, please go to their website or Facebook page.

Our local business spotlight for June is Orangetheory Fitness!
If you have ever driven down Main Street and shopped in the plaza with EarthFare, you have seen Orangetheory Fitness. Maybe you have seen Orangetheory Fitness, but you don’t know what it is all about. You might think it is “just another gym”, but it’s not.
What makes Orangetheory Fitness different?
The theory behind what Orangetheory Fitness does is known as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). Members are
provided a heart-rate monitor to enable the accurate tracking of the heart rate during the five-zone interval training
sessions called the Orange 60. This is not the type of gym where you go and pick your machines and maybe reach the desired heart rate to achieve results. At OTF, the goal is for you to participate in a 1 hour group personal training workout that will create the “Orange Effect” in you.
What is the Orange Effect?
The Orange Effect takes a one hour class and enables you to burn extra calories for up to 36 hours. Not only do you get the benefits of a high intensity group training class, you get support from the personal trainers who lead the group.
Do I have to already be in shape to participate?
Absolutely not! Orangetheory Fitness training classes are for EVERYONE, from beginners to OTF veterans. The trainers are able to work with each student and tailor the program specifically to the person’s needs. That means if you are coming off an injury, they can work around that and help you reach your goals.
Each studio is also equipped with state of the art equipment, sound, lighting, and decor. They also have separate men’s and women’s restrooms and showers, as well as lockers.
If you are interested in finding out more, they are offer a FREE first class. In addition, anyone who joins and mentions seeing Orangetheory Fitness on Life in Summerville will get $10 off/month on their top membership options!* Get healthy and save money! What could be better than that?!?!
*offer valid only at the Orangetheory Fitness Summerville location
Living in a community means that you come to know who is in business in your town. In an effort to bring attention to the businesses right here in our own town, I have started a monthly Local Business Spotlight. It is my hope that you will not only come back to see who gets the spotlight next, but that you consider doing business with our spotlight of the month. As a fairly small town, it is important to make sure we don’t forget the people who have chosen to pursue their livelihood and passion in the town of Summerville!
So, join me in celebrating our very first Local Business Spotlight partner, Summerville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics!
Dr. Dorothy Baker leads a wonderful staff of caring professionals who seek to make any dental experience a positive one. Dr. Baker is joined by Dr. Kathryn Stroud Bullwinkel, Orthodontist, and Dr. Katie Polley, who provides the practice’s older patients with high quality esthetic, and restorative dentistry.
In May of 2017, Summerville Pediatric Dentistry moved into a brand new location in Collins Square at 384 E. 5th North St. in Summerville, while the Orthodontics part of the practice remains at the original location at 405 W. 5th North St.,
Dr. Baker and her staff are a vital part of our community. It is her belief that “God has blessed her with the ability to practice in the Lowcountry, and seeks to glorify Him through the care she provides all of her patient families.” Because of that belief, the involvement of Summerville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics in local events and charities is always something that the practice participates in when given the opportunity.
In 2017, Dr. Baker was awarded the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Pediatric Dentist from the Summerville Journal Scene. Whether you are new to the area or have lived here your whole life, Summerville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics is a great choice for the dental needs of your family!
As a thank you to our readers, Dr. Baker and the staff at Summerville Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics has generously donated a money saving coupon for new patients to use! Feel free to print it out for your first appointment.
