Late last week, a map of the new retail establishments that are set to open in Nexton was released. There is no doubt that Nexton is going to be one of the places to be in the next several years.
As you may know, Nexton is a master planned community that, when completed, will have a myriad of stores, restaurants, fitness facilities, and more. Some of the names on the proposed list of establishments are those that will be familiar to locals in the tri-country region. Popular eateries such as Halls Chophouse, Home Team BBQ and Taco Boy are set to open. Look for a new fitness option with Cycle Bar coming to town. This is perfect for those who love to spin! Want a treat after your cycle class? Head to Sub Zero Ice Cream where you pick the flavors and they zap it with liquid nitrogen and presto! Your ice cream is ready! Maybe you would rather grab a super yummy burger or a “concrete” at Burger Fi. What’s a concrete? It is a mix of frozen custard and yummy mix ins. You may need to head back to Cycle Bar for another class after eating that one. Burger Fi’s custard is amazing..and well worth the extra class!
Check out the map below for all the other establishments that are proposed to open!
Also coming to Nexton but not shown on this map is Sam’s Club and Harris Teeter. Soon, everything will be right at your fingertips!

If you have traveled past the Oakbrook Square Shopping Center within the last few weeks, you probably noticed that some of the older buildings in the strip mall have been demolished. The work being done there is in preparation for Summerville’s newest grocery store chain, Lowes Foods.
Lowes Foods is a Winston-Salem, North Carolina based grocery chain that is unlike anything that we currently have in the Summerville area. “Our Summerville store will be very focused on supporting all things local,” Lowes Foods president Tim Lowe said. “Our commitment to local includes offering produce sourced through our partnership with more than 200 local farmers, and featuring a wide assortment of unique local products found throughout the store.”
Lowes Foods also believes in community and that is why they have created what they call Community Table. Community Table is exactly that, and will showcase local chefs teaching cooking classes, as well as local wineries, farmers, and other small businesses that will sample their homegrown, home-made items.
Anticipated opening date if late 2017.
The town of Summerville will get its first large-scale wholesale club when BJ’s Wholesale Club opens this June. This is the first of its kind that will be located in the state of South Carolina.
The new club will be 87,000 square feet will be located on Main Street near Walmart and Comfort Suites and is conveniently right off of I-26, exit 199. Company spokeswoman Maria Fruci said, “We are excited to be part of the growth in Summerville and look forward to bringing the BJ’s Club experience and savings to the market.”
