Did you know that Summerville, South Carolina is home the birthplace of Sweet Tea? It is and that is why each year out town celebrates the sweet concoction that so many love!
This year’s event takes place during the Third Thursday event on September 20th from 4-8:30pm.
Sweet Tea will be flowing throughout the town at various shops and food will also be available. Third Thursday is a weekly event where you can browse the store, eat great food, and listen to local musicians. There will be special 2018 mugs to commemorate the occasion, so be on the lookout for them! The price for the commemorative mug will be announced shortly, but the children’s cups will be $1.

Join the 6th Annual Food Drive that benefits the Help of Summerville and the Dorchester Senior Center Holiday Food Basket program. Donations can be made at drop off centers at various locations beginning on Thursday, November 1st through Monday November 19th.
Plan on attending Third Thursday on November 15th? We will be accepting donations in Hutchinson Square 5:30-8:30 pm. Please make sure that all items are non-perishable.

The Town of Summerville will kick off the Independence Day celebrations with the annual Summerville tradition of fireworks at the Jerry Blackwell Sports Complex at Gahagan Park on 515 W. Boundary Street. The park will be the center of old-fashioned 4th of July family fun with musical entertainment, games, children’s’ activities, jump castles, and the ever popular patriotic newspaper hats.
This is a FREE community event. Please do not bring your pets to this event.

Many people in and around the town of Summerville pass by a building located in Hutchinson Square and have no idea what is there. In a small building located at the end of some shops is the historic James F. Dean Community Theatre which houses the Flowertown Players. If you have never been to one of the shows, make sure to check one (or all) out this season! Some great shows are on tap!
The James E. Dean theater was built in 1935 by Carolina Films, Incorporated. Each performance is handicapped accessible and offers a sound system for hearing enhancement for the hearing impaired. Admission ranges from $15 – $25 per person. The theatre is located at 133 S Main St, Summerville, SC 29483.

Tale as old as time…
That’s right. The movie for July is Beauty and the Beast. This is the live-action version of the Academy Award winning movie. The Town of Summerville, along with presenting sponsor Tony Pope- State Farm Agent, invite you to bring your blankets and chairs to Gahagan Park and enjoy the FREE movie. This movie is rated PG. Admission, as always, is free. The event is located at Gahagan Park at 515 W. Boundary Street in Summerville.
Live music starts at 6:30 p.m. Several food vendors will be onsite (kettle corn, hot dogs, baked goods and Italian ice). Movie starts at dark.
Glass bottles, tents and pets are NOT permitted at the event.
