• Local Business Spotlight ~ Nothing Bundt Cakes

Life in Summerville is proud to welcome a brand-new business to our town!

Summerville residents are eagerly anticipating the opening of the only Nothing Bundt Cakes shop located on this side of the bridge. The new shop will be located at 1202 N. Main Street in the new plaza behind Sticky Fingers.

If you have never had the pleasure of tasting one of their cakes, you are in for a real treat. You won’t find all different kinds of cakes, pastries, and cupcakes at Nothing Bundt Cakes. The name says it all! When you do something really well, there is no need to do anything else. Believe me, they succeed at making the best bundt cakes ever!

Nothing Bundt Cakes specializes in making THE BEST in quality and flavor bundt cakes. They use only the finest ingredients and all 11 cake flavors and frostings are made on-site every day! So, don’t worry. Your bundt cakes are always fresh. Nothing Bundt Cakes come in 4 different sizes. My favorite is the mini bundlet. It is just enough for one person, but the taste will leave you wanting for more! Have a celebration or a party coming up? Get your supplies right in the shop. It makes it super easy! The best part is cakes are available for those who venture in the store (and always come out smiling), call ahead orders, or have the cakes delivered.

Right now a soft opening is planned for the end of September, but that could change depending on when the shop is able to open for business. To make sure you know when they open their doors to the public, please like their page on Facebook.. Also make sure to sign up for their Exclusive E-Club, where you will receive their official opening announcement, free bundtlets on your birthday, and get buy one-get one free bundtlet coupons sent straight to your email throughout the year! • It’s Back to School Time Again, so Safety First!!!

Let the moaning and groaning of getting up early for school begin again. Yes, it’s back to school time again!

Along with the excitement of children going to school, seeing their friends, and meeting their new teachers, there is something that the Summerville Police Department wants everyone to remember.

The Summerville Police Department shared a video on their Facebook page this week and I thought it was such a vivid reminder for everyone.

Also as important as speeding are the rules are for stopping when you see a school bus. A two lane road would be Central Avenue for example. a 4 lane would be Old Trolley Road.

So many tragic accidents occur even before the students get to school or back to their homes. Be on high alert anytime you are near buses or a school. A child may not realize the danger and dart out into the street or some from behind a car. Accidents happen, but some can be prevented by being proactive.

Let’s make the 2018/2019 school year a safe and accident-free one!

Our Local Business Spotlight is the Knightsville General Store and Coffee House! Located at 1700 Central Avenue in the Knightsville section of Summerville, you will find a throwback to days gone by when you pay them a visit.

What started as a place for people to come visit, sit, and enjoy a great cup of coffee and conversation, has grown to be the spot for the locals to frequent. This is just a short list of the items that can be found at the Knightsville General Store!

    • Wide assortment of homemade items for lunch and dinner
    • Daily specials
    • Fresh brewed coffee from Black Rifle Coffee and Coastal Coffee Roasters

The Knightsville General Store is not just the place to get a great meal or cup of coffee. Now they offer several different events throughout the year. One of their most popular events is what they call the Knightsville Porch Jam!

Harkening back to a time when it was commonplace for people to gather together in the evening on porches. At the Knightsville Porch Jam, musicians play while families enjoy just spending time together playing games and leaving all the craziness of their busy lives behind them. It is a reminder of simpler times when conversations were only face to face and not phone to phone. It’s a time for people to get to know one another while enjoying great food and fun games. It’s something that I think many of us need in our often hectic lives.

Every Thursday Night is GAME NIGHT at the Knightsville General Store!
Join in for a game or two and a chance to win a $20 gift certificate! Beginning August 23, the hours for Game Night will be 6pm to 8pm. You don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Now that school is going to be back in session, the Knightsville General Store will have new hours. Beginning August 21, 2018, they will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 12pm to 4pm.
