If you happen to be in the town of Summerville today (June 10th) there literally is something brewing… 1400 gallons of freshly made sweet tea! Today, the town will attempt to get the Guinness World Record for the “World’s Largest Iced Tea”. An adjudicator from the Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand to oversee, verify and present the record if it it completed.
Starting at 7am, the tea leaves brought in from Charleston Tea Plantation will begin to brew, using natural gas provided from SCE&G. Dixie Crystals sugar will be used to make it sweet. The “mason jar” that will contain the record-breaking tea was made by the local Scout Boats company.
Little Main St. and a portion of Richardson Ave. will be closed to traffic for the safety of event participants (same set-up as the Christmas Tree Lighting).
