Local Business Spotlight ~ Lumber Jills Axe Throwing Lounge
July is here and that means it’s time for the Local Business Spotlight. This month, the spotlight is on a really fun and unique establishment located on Ladson Road in Summerville called Lumber Jills Axe Throwing Lounge.
How did Lumber Jills come to be and what IS a Lumber Jill?
Lumber Jills Axe Throwing Lounge came to be after husband and wife team, Heath and Jill experienced axe throwing during a date night with friends. They believed that it would be an awesome addition to this area and they were correct! Customers in our area love Lumber Jills because it offers them a completely different experience that they would normally find in Summerville.
What is a Lumber Jill? During World War II when the men went off to combat, the women had to work in the lumberyards. Those women became known as Lumberjills.
What do I need to know before I go to Lumber Jills Axe Throwing Lounge?
First of all, safety is key. You are, after all, throwing axes. No open toed shoes are allowed and the only axes that will be thrown are those supplied by Lumber Jills. No axes or other objects that can be thrown should be brought into the facility. If it appears a person is not capable of throwing an axe, the coach that will work with you will not allow the person to throw. Safety comes first.
What changes have been made due to COVID-19?
The following is the latest information provided by Lumber Jills. In order to follow the rules that have been set in place by the state and town, these are the two options that are currently available to you.
Lane for Two– Looking for a romantic evening of axe throwing? Want to come on your lunch break with a buddy? Just two of you? Book 30 minutes for $15/person. And no worries… the lane is yours!
Lane for More- This is for you if you want to throw longer or have more people. This lane gives you 1.5 hours and can be booked for 3 to 6 people. It’s $24/person. Keep a couple of things in mind:
- If your group requires more than three lanes, call for a discount.
- A deposit of $24 will be required at booking. When you come in for your reservation, each person can pay separately if desired. (This deposit is non-refundable if canceled within 24 hours of your chosen time slot.)
