If you live in the Summerville area or are visiting, you definitely want to make sure you take a day trip to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens!
Once you step foot on the grounds of the plantation and gardens, you will understand why it was named one of America’s Most Beautiful Gardens by Travel & Leisure Magazine. Not only is it a beautiful place, but it is also steeped in history dating back to the American Revolution. It was back in 1676 that the plantation was founded by the Drayton family. (A family name that is well-known in the Summerville/Charleston area)
Located at 3550 Ashley River Road in Charleston, South Carolina, Magnolia Plantation is a short ride from downtown Summerville or downtown Charleston.

Important information from their site regarding dates, hours, and admission:
Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is open from November through February from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm with ticket sales ending at 4:00 pm. Spring hours, beginning in mid-March, when the time changes, through October, are 8 am until 5:30 pm. Magnolia is open 365 days a year, including all major holidays. The Audubon Swamp Garden maintains the same hours as the plantation. Basic garden admission of $20 for adults and $10 for children 6-12 is required to purchase any of the guided tours, including the un-guided Audubon Swamp tour. Garden admission, tours and all-inclusive passes to Magnolia cannot be purchased online.
